Varroa Destructor

The Varroa Destructor is an external parasitic mite that affects honeybees. The mite has been implicated in the phenomena known as colony collapse disorder (CCD), the dramatic decline in viable honeybee colonies that has struck beekeepers in North America and Europe. One hypothesis regarding CCD is that honeybees have had their immune systems impaired by pesticides.
